Marty Wendel got his start in the maple sugaring business as a kid, when his father told him if he wanted a dirtbike, he'd have to earn it. The Wendels still use 2,000 buckets, though pipe carries most of the sugar maple sap these days. (Robert Kirkham/Buffalo News)
