The day began at 5 a.m. with opening ceremonies at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. From left are Daniel Misner of Tonawanda who served as a Navy Seabee in the South Pacific, George Trautman of Tonawanda who was a Navy Seabee in the South Pacific, Arthur Hann, of Boston who fought in Europe with the army and William Hauck of Sanborn who was in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific.
