Learn how to can the best of what summer has to offer at two canning demonstrations to be held in Lancaster today.
The first will be held at 10 a.m. at the Lancaster Farmers Market, 4913 Transit Road. The second will be at 2 p.m. at the Lancaster Historical Society, 40 Clark Street. The event at the historical society will include the unveiling of a 100-year-old recipe for Lancaster relish. There will also be a Kosher pickle demonstration. The events are expected to last about 45 minutes. Free products and coupons will be given away.
The canning demonstrations are being held in conjunction with the Ball National Can it Forward Day. The Lancaster Market was one of 30 farmers markets selected for the 2013 Ball canning grant.

• Stony Road in Lancaster, between Genesee Street and Walden Avenue, will close Monday for rehabilitation work that’s expected to continue through at least Sept. 27. Detour signs will be posted.
• The Lancaster Town Municipal Review Committee, comprised of the Town Board and the Planning Board, will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at Town Hall, 21 Central Ave., for the State Environmental Quality Review Act review of the site plan for Try-It Distributing Compressed Natural Gas Fueling Station., 4155 Walden Ave.
• The Lancaster Town Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Town Hall.
