City of Night, the manic and many-splendored arts festival that seemed to spring up from nowhere last September to become one of the most buzzed-about cultural events of 2012, returns to the Silo City complex of grain elevators and industrial buildings on Saturday night.

The improved and more polished event organized by Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo will feature a veritable cross-section of Western New York’s grassroots arts activity. Fourteen art installations will pepper the sprawling Silo City site at 22 Childs St., ranging from Casey William Milbrand’s “CityHEART,” a sculptural love letter to Buffalo built from bicycle parts, to an exhibition of abstract cyanotype photographs by Lockport artist Kate Parzych. A dozen or so musical acts will perform including Lazlo Hollyfeld, Randall and the Late Night Scandals and Zero City, capped off by a presentation from VJ Projex.

In addition to the installations and performances, 464 Gallery will host its second annual art fair, which will feature work by more than 30 artists and galleries. And no cross-cultural event would be complete without the presence of food trucks: Lloyd, The Whole Hog, Rolling Joe, Thai Me Up, Amy’s Truck and Roaming Buffalo will be dishing out food.

The free festival runs from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday. For more information, visit cityofnightbuffalo.com.
