We are blessed with plenty of shows from classic acts come summertime in these parts. More often than not, however, those are of the classic rock variety. Not a problem in and of itself, surely. But when I first saw the lineup for this year’s Artpark summer season, I was thrilled to find the teaming of Gladys Knight and the O’Jays on the list. This is classic, and incredibly classy, soul music, and we don’t seem to get enough of that during our jam-packed summer concert schedule.
If you care about true, deep R&B and soul, and if you love emotion-soaked virtuoso singing with killer vocal harmonies, Tuesday’s “Family Reunion Tour” featuring Knight and the O’Jays is for you. When it comes to classic soul, it really doesn’t get much better than this.
Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Knight goes on right at 7 p.m., followed by the O’Jays. Tickets are $10 through Saturday; $15 after that. VIP tickets are $25 for the front-of-stage pit and $50 for the VIP Producer’s Deck, which includes parking and wait staff service.
Visit www.artpark.net for additional information and to purchase tickets.
