The Erie County Comptroller’s Office will save $476,058 in this year’s budget, a majority of that coming from not filling several vacant positions right away, according to Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw.
That’s a voluntary cut of almost 14 percent in the comptroller’s $3.47 million budget, he said.
“Times are tough,” said Mychajliw, a Republican seeing re-election. “The economy is not rebounding. Families we serve are stretching their dollars at home. Erie County government should do the same.”
