MORRISTOWN – A young man from Lancaster has died after he was struck by a sport utility vehicle while he was walking along a road in Northern New York state, authorities said Monday.

State police said Benjamin Schick and John Robinson, both of them 19 and from Lancaster, were walking on the shoulder of Route 6 in the St. Lawrence County town of Morristown around 9 p.m. Sunday when Schick was hit from behind by a SUV that didn’t stop.

Schick was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Robinson wasn’t hit by the SUV, and he gave police a description of the vehicle.

Troopers said the SUV believed to have been involved was reported stolen earlier from an Ogdensburg parking lot.

They said it was found Monday morning in Ogdensburg and is being checked by investigators. The driver hasn’t been found.
