BATAVIA – A man who burglarized the home of an off-duty police officer was arrested Saturday afternoon, according to the state police.

Aaron W. Clark, 24, of Batavia, was charged with burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, obstructing governmental administration and violating his parole for a previous robbery conviction, officials said.

Clark ran from the crime scene after being confronted by the off-duty officier and fled into a cornfield off State Street, near the Thruway, authorities said. When arrested. Clark had items taken from at least two homes, including credit cards, police added.

Police said Clark had approached residents other homes in the neighborhood and said he needed gas to get to Rochester. State police are asking nyone with additional information to call them at (585) 344-6200.
