‘Yard police’ must stop harassing homeowners

How ridiculous is it that in parts of the City of Buffalo thousands of visitors are flocking to see hundreds of home flower gardens during the now nationally known Buffalo Garden Walk – when in other neighborhoods residents are ticketed and fined hundreds of dollars for making a modest attempt to beautify their homes by growing flowers in their front yards?

I hope Buffalo’s “yard police,” as well as city officials responsible for this nonsense, take the opportunity to go on the various garden tours so hopefully they can learn to tell the difference between a flower and high grass. Perhaps the “yard police” should be required to pass a flower identification or basic landscaping test before they are hired, or better yet, the city should first tend to its own back yard and clean up and maintain city-owned neglected and overgrown properties before harassing responsible homeowners.
