As far as DWI arrests go, you might say it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

State Police said a 56-year-old Buffalo man was arrested Tuesday as he entered a road check in the city – while drinking a beer.

It happened shortly before 6 p.m. on Lisbon Avenue, where a road check was being conducted by the Buffalo Strike Force Unit, which enforces the mayor’s zero-tolerance law enforcement initiative. A trooper saw that Lester L. McDue, of Lawn Avenue, was drinking a beer while driving a vehicle that had bald tires, police reported.

McDue failed sobriety tests and was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said; a breath test indicated a blood-alcohol content of 0.09 percent. He was released on tickets to appear in Buffalo City Court.
