Francis J. McLaughlin, a United States Air Force veteran and member of the Eden Town Board, has been named Erie County’s new director of veterans services, County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz announced.

A member of the Air Force from 1969 to 1972, McLaughlin has more than 30 years’ experience in veterans affairs, first as a labor services representative for the state Department of Labor from 1982 to 2008 and then as assistant deputy director in the state Division of Veterans Affairs from 2008 to 2011.

“I am pleased to appoint Fran McLaughlin to the position of director of veterans services for Erie County, and I am confident that his experience in veterans affairs with New York State will be a valuable asset in helping our veterans navigate bureaucratic red tape to obtain the services and benefits they deserve,” Poloncarz said.
