A new marker was placed at the grave site of one of the first white settlers of the Town of Aurora.

Saturday’s 78th annual Adams-Tomlinson reunion at Hamlin Park in East Aurora included a stop at Pioneer Cemetery on Oakwood Avenue, where descendants of Joel Adams placed the new memorial marker on his fading grave stone.

Adams, a Revolutionary War veteran, was one of the town’s first white settlers. Adams and his sons are credited with being the first white settlers to spend the winter in the town in 1804.
