SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (AP) — Police on Long Island are investigating a crash between a Hampton Jitney bus and an SVU that killed a 29-year-old mother.
It happened at about 7 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of County Road 39 and St. Andrews Road in Southampton.
Police say a Carissa Castillo, of Shirley, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer eastbound on County Road 39 when she veered into the westbound lane and crashed into the jitney bus head-on.
Police say Castillo was pronounced dead at the scene. She leaves behind two small children.
The bus driver and a jitney attendant were hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries.
