LLOYD, N.Y. (AP) — Traffic is moving smoothly again on the westbound lanes of the Mid-Hudson Bridge after an overturned truck caused long delays for evening commuters.
The New York State Bridge Authority says a tractor-trailer overturned around 3:30 p.m. Thursday on the southbound ramp to Route 9W in Highland, on the span's western end in Ulster County.
Westbound traffic from Poughkeepsie to Highland was diverted to the northbound Route 9W ramp for several hours while crews unloaded the truck's cargo of plastic sheeting.
The truck was removed from the scene late Thursday night.
The crash didn't cause any delays on the bridge's eastbound side.
Police say the truck's load shifted as it exited the bridge, causing it to flip over. The driver suffered a fractured arm and shoulder.
