SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Transparent outfinished entry mate Romansh to hit the wire first by two lengths in the $100,000 Curlin Stakes for 3-year-olds Friday at Saratoga Race Course.
But after a claim of interference on the stretch turn, the stewards disqualified Transparent and elevated the other Darley Stable-owned runner to the first position.
Bad Hombre was subsequently awarded second money and Edge of Reality third. Transparent was placed fifth. Jockey Ricardo Santana Jr., who rode unplaced Proud Strike, filed the successful claim of foul against Irad Ortiz Jr., who was aboard Transparent.
The running time for 1 1/8 miles was 1:49.60. Romansh paid $4.80, $2.80 and $2.10. Bad Hombre paid $4.10 and $2.80. Edge of Reality returned $2.90 to show. The win was worth $60,000 to Darley Stable.
