Matt Stasiak sits in second place after the first two rounds of the 91st annual New York State Men’s Amateur Championship at Schuyler Meadows Club in Loudonville.

Stasiak, a Clarence High School graduate who plays out of Fox Valley, shot an even-par round of 72 Wednesday in the second round. He’s four strokes behind leader Victor Fox of Normanside Country Club in Delmar, who has posted rounds of 68 and 71, for a 5-under total. Fox and Stasiak are the only two players under par.

Other Western New York players making the cut, which was the top 40 players and ties, were: Billy Gaffney of Crag Burn, who’s tied for 13th at 5 over after rounds of 71 and 78; Ken Riter of Park Country Club, tied for 20th at 7 over (76-75); Thad Wier III of Springville, tied for 25th at 8 over (74-78) and Andy Bernatovicz of River Oaks, who is tied for 40th at 11 over after rounds of 76-79.

The final two rounds will be held today, with the third round beginning at 7:30 a.m. and the final round set to start at 12:30 p.m.
