Starting at 7 p.m. Monday, the band shell in Tonawanda’s Niawanda Park will come alive with a swirling, flashing, tube-sock sporting, Madonna-singing cadre of some 80 actors for the jukebox musical “Back to the ’80s.”
The show, by Neil Gooding and presented by In Good Company Productions, tells a happily formulaic tale about a group of seniors at the fictional William Ocean High School. It features more than two dozen songs of the era, including Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” The Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star,” “You Give Love a Bad Name” by Bon Jovi and Madonna’s “Material Girl.” Featured performers include Andrew Zuccari, Conor Maxwell, Alex Nowak, Anna Heerdt, Grace Firzak and Ally Gray.
It is directed by Melissa Tober, with choreography by Anthony Ward and music direction by Bethany Rarick. The free production runs through Aug. 8. Call 216-4114 or www.ingoodcompanyproducitons.net for more info.
