LOCKPORT – Dawn M. Timm, interim director of the Niagara County Refuse Disposal District, said Monday she expects a heavy turnout for the county’s final household hazardous waste drop-off event of the year, set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at Lockport Town Hall, 6560 Dysinger Road.
It’s an appointment-only event, and Timm said, “We’re already up to 75 appointments, and I’ve done zero promotion for this.”
The number of appointments will be limited to 300, she said. The number to call to sign up is 439-7250. The event is open to any Niagara County resident.
Timm said since the June 28 flash flood, many Lockport residents have been called about disposing of ruined paint and other materials that were in their flooded basements.
