FREWSBURG – A six-day boil-water order for Town of Carroll residents in the Wigren Road area was lifted Wednesday after tests showed that the water is again safe to drink.

The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services issued the boil-water order last Thursday after a break in a six-inch water main along Route 62 that occurred as crews were trying to isolate a leak. The pipe was repaired Friday, and tests Monday and Tuesday showed the water was safe, officials said.

The boil-water advisory affected only the Wigren Road area, although customers in Frewsburg and most of the Town of Carroll were asked to cut their water use in half until the water main was repaired.
