A 44-year-old Lockport woman has pleaded guilty to pilfering more than $100,000 from Planned Parenthood of Western New York.
Melissa Kwoka of Corinthia Street admitted in court Wednesday morning that she stole $102,733 between August 2012 and March 2013 by forging checks to herself and her husband. Kwoka was a staff accountant at the agency.
She pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny before Justice John L. Michalski.
It was the highest charge for which she could have been convicted had she gone to trial, said Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III.
Assistant District Attorney Brian P. Dassero prosecuted the case.
Kwoka, who has three prior convictions for theft offenses, will face a maximum prison term of five to 15 years when she is sentenced on Nov. 12, Sedita said.
