NEW YORK (AP) — Some of his rivals in the New York City mayoral race say Anthony Weiner should drop out.
Two fellow Democrats have called for Weiner to quit: Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and former City Councilman Sal Albanese.
Billionaire John Catsimatidis (kat-sih-mah-TEE'-dihs), a Republican, also joined the chorus.
Other Democratic mayoral candidates have stopped short of calling for him to bow out.
City Council Speaker Christine Quinn criticized Weiner for what she calls a pattern of reckless behavior, consistently poor judgment and difficulty with the truth.
City Comptroller John Liu calls Weiner's sexting a valid issue for voters.
Former City Comptroller Bill Thompson says Weiner should "make the right decision" if he cares about New York.
The candidates also say the scandal is diverting attention from important issues.
