Brown’s legal woes continue
Singer Chris Brown’s lawyer has entered a not-guilty plea for him to a hit-and-run charge that led to his parole being revoked.
The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office said charges of driving without a license and driving without proof of insurance were dismissed Tuesday after Brown’s attorney presented proof he was licensed in Virginia.
Brown was charged after a May 12 traffic accident in which he is suspected of rear-ending a car stopped at a red light and refusing to give the other driver his license or insurance information.
The singer has been on felony probation in the 2009 beating of former girlfriend Rihanna. A judge revoked his probation last week and ordered a hearing. His trial in the hit-and-run case is set for Aug. 15.
Actress Amanda Bynes was hospitalized for a mental health evaluation after deputies said she started a small fire in the driveway of a home in Southern California.
Deputies responding to a 911 call Monday night found Bynes, 27, standing next to the flames in the city of Thousand Oaks, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Don Aguilar. No charges were filed.
The former Nickelodeon actress has had several run-ins with the law in California. In December, the “Hairspray” star resolved a misdemeanor hit-and-run case after entering into a civil settlement with other drivers.
Bynes was also charged last fall with driving on a suspended license after it was temporarily taken away from her following two hit-and-run cases where she was accused of leaving the scene without providing proper information.

Tish Finley Cyrus filed for a divorce last month in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences. But in a statement provided by their publicist Monday, the couple said they are working on their relationship in therapy.
“We both woke up and realized we love each other and decided we want to stay together,” they said.
The two got married in December 1993 and have three children together, including actress-musician Miley Cyrus.
