Cuomo should focus efforts on inept political system

The News reports how Gov. Andrew Cuomo has formed a Commission to Investigate Public Corruption. Recent incidents illustrate the main problem is corruption involving state politicians.

In America’s political system these individuals are private contractors representing their political parties. Their responsibility is to direct our government. The public uses elections to hire and fire these contractors.

This increase in political corruption is a symptom of increased moral corruption in our Democratic and Republican parties. The result is a criminally dysfunctional political system. Cuomo believes that the dysfunction can be reduced by using public tax dollars to finance the election campaigns of politicians. This would include career politicians like Sheldon Silver. In my opinion, public financing of election campaigns will not reduce moral corruption.

The investigators on Cuomo’s commission include political cronies called district attorneys. The result will be a Commission to Pretend to Investigate Political Corruption. I recommend forming a Commission to Fix our Criminally Dysfunctional Political System.
