NEW YORK (AP) — A New York City man who stuffed his dead grandmother in a closet and then partied in her apartment has been sentenced to 25 years to life in her murder.
Larry Davis was sentenced Tuesday. A Manhattan jury found him guilty last month in the March 2011 death of his 76-year-old grandmother, Cora Davis.
Prosecutors said the 24-year-old Davis beat his grandmother to death and hid her body in her bedroom closet because she wouldn't give him $175.
They said he then invited a prostitute to his grandmother's apartment, where they drank alcohol and smoked marijuana.
District Attorney Cyrus Vance said Davis had terrorized his grandmother for years before he killed her.
