Two people accused of stealing an estimated $20,000 in “general merchandise” from a Sweet Avenue home were arrested Monday morning, police said.

Shamake Shire, of East Ferry Street, and Caroline Sawyer, of Breckenridge Street, threw a rock through the side window of the Sweet Avenue residence, climbed inside and took between 45 and 50 boxes, authorities said.

Police observed Shire fleeing the home after they responded to a report of the burglary, according to officials.
