Inform women on assistance to keep their unborn children
Sadly, I recently attended the closing Mass and reception of Holy Angels Academy, of which I am an alumna. Seven hundred plus were in attendance and we reminisced about our happy four years at this wonderful Catholic academy administered by the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart.
I was shocked when I heard that Holy Angels was closing. But should we really be surprised about all the school closings both private and public when our country has aborted 50 million-plus unborn children in the last 40 years? These children would have and would be filling our schools.
At the end of the last legislative session, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo was promoting the Women’s Equality Act, which was supposed to protect women’s rights but I believe also included a bill that would encourage more abortions and expand late-term procedures. New York State already has the highest number of abortions in the country. The bill never came up to a vote in the Senate.
Instead of encouraging women to abort their unborn children, let us inform them of all the assistance available to them before and after the birth of their children. That would be real equality for women, born and unborn.
