Senior Chief Petty Officer Craig Allain will assume command of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Buffalo Station during a ceremony at the station in the Buffalo harbor.
He will succeed Senior Chief Petty Officer Dennis O’Connell, who is headed to a Coast Guard duty station in Boston.
Allain will come to Buffalo as officer-in-charge after serving as executive officer at the Coast Guard station at Fort Pierce, Fla.
In Buffalo, he will be in charge of 22 active-duty Coast Guard members, seven reservists and 122 auxiliary members.
Last month, Capt. Brian Roche assumed command of the Coast Guard’s Buffalo sector, which oversees 15 units covering 570 miles of shoreline in the eastern Great Lakes from Vermillion, Ohio, to Massena.
