The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 24th annual Gelatin Splash last month raised $115,000 for the fight against blood cancers, organizers report.
More than 1,000 spectators watched as 80 participants dived into 1,000 gallons of strawberry gelatin at Banchetti by Rizzo’s in Getzville. Participants had to raise at least $400 in donations.
The top fundraiser for the eighth straight year was Forrest Weaver, of Kenmore, owner of Few Dew Deliveries and a former patient.
Weaver collected $11,880.50 in donations.
Runner-up was Mike Bonetto, of Orchard Park, regional president of First Niagara Risk Management and a member of the local chapter’s board of trustees.
Bonetto raised $10,150.
