A pair of summer concert series get in full swing Tuesday.

Polka band The Knewz kicks off the free Children’s Concert Series sponsored by Kenmore Village Improvement Society and Franco’s Pizza at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday on the lawn of Kenmore Middle School, 155 Delaware Road. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Kenmore Community Center, 135 Wilber Ave. The series runs weekly through Aug. 13.

Later Tuesday, big band Sentimental Journey takes the Lincoln Arena stage at 7:30 p.m. as part of the town’s 2013 Summer Concert Series, which continues this week with country band West of the Mark on Wednesday and Beatles tribute BackBeat64 on Thursday.

Also this week:

• The Kenmore Village Board meets at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers at the municipal building, 2919 Delaware Ave. A work session begins at 6:30 in the mayor’s office on the first floor.

• The Town of Tonawanda Zoning Board of Appeals meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in council chambers at the municipal building.

• The 11th annual Ken-Ton Garden Tour begins Saturday at 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and continues July 21 at more than 50 locations. There will also be a Saturday Night Lights evening garden tour from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. Guides, maps and descriptions can be downloaded at www.kentongardentour.com.
