Orchard Park Town Board members have designated Town Clerk Carol Hutton to receive notice of claims served on the secretary of state.
A recent change in state law allows someone suing the town to serve a notice of claim on the secretary of state. If the board had not taken action, the town would not have gotten a copy of claims delivered to the secretary of state, Town Attorney John Bailey said.
Once the secretary is served, he is to notify the town clerk.
“That’s the theory,” Bailey said. “We’ll see if they follow through.“

• The town Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the basement meeting room in the municipal center, 4295 S. Buffalo St.
• The Town Board will conduct a work session at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the supervisor’s conference room followed by a regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the board room in the municipal center.
• The village Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the municipal center.
• Jack Civiletto will perform the hits of Frank Sinatra at 7 p.m. today in the Pavilion behind the Orchard Park Middle School on Lincoln Avenue, Formula Italian Band will play at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Terry Buchwald, a.k.a. Elvis, takes the stage at 7 p.m. Thursday. Buffalo & Brandy will entertain kids of all ages at 11 a.m. Friday.
