NIAGARA FALLS – The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and 10,000 Maniacs will perform at two free concerts this month on Old Falls Street.
The orchestra will perform Saturday, with 10,000 Maniacs following July 27.
Each concert runs from 5 to 10 p.m. and will feature an opening performance from Slyboots School of Music and Art in Buffalo.
Members of LehrerDance,a professional dance company in Buffalo, will be featured as part of the orchestra’s performance.
Three Western New York bands will help open the 10,000 Maniacs concert – Aircraft, The Albrights and The Tins.
Ryan Coate, general manager of Global Spectrum, the firm that manages Old Falls Street and Conference Center Niagara Falls, said he expects the concerts will each draw more than 2,000 people.
“With all of the momentum and positive feedback we have been receiving on Old Falls Street thus far this summer, we thought it was most appropriate to bring these larger-scale concerts to the street,” Coate said in a statement. “Global Spectrum was able to team up with many local businesses to bring these world-class artists to downtown Niagara Falls in a venue that both residents and outside guests can enjoy.”
Food and beverage vendors will be on site for the concerts, which will be held rain or shine.
