Daemen College took another step on the road to becoming an NCAA Division II school.

The NCAA’s Division II membership committee informed Daemen it has been approved for advancement to “Candidacy Year Two” of the Division II membership process.

Daemen is seeking to become the only Division II school in the Buffalo region. The school has already been accepted as a member of the East Coast Conference.

Teams will play full regular season conference schedules beginning this fall. The college will also maintain its affiliation with the United States Collegiate Athletic Association for postseason opportunities.

Next summer, the NCAA Division II membership committee will vote as to whether Daemen will progress to provisional status in 2014-15.
