NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a body recovered from the Niagara River below Niagara Falls is that of a 23-year-old college student who fell into the water while on an outing with relatives.
New York State Park Police tell the Niagara Gazette (http://bit.ly/1agykuP ) that Narang "David" Kim's body was pulled from the river Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the University at Buffalo graduate student from Amherst was hiking off the posted trail in the Niagara Gorge last Saturday when he stepped on an algae-covered rock and slipped. Officers say he was instantly swept downriver by the strong current.
Searchers had been looking for Kim since Saturday night.
Police say they also recovered the body of a 37-year-old woman who committed suicide by going over the falls Saturday night. Her name hasn't been released.
