The Huffington Post has a taste for Genesee beer.
The Web site’s food section spotlighted an article by online food magazine FirstWeFeast.com called “The Unsung Cheap Beers of America,” which pegged the Rochester-based brew one of the best cheap, regional beers in the country.
The publication dubbed Genesee Cream Ale “the Pabst Blue Ribbon of Upstate New York.” It ranked at number eight, above Pottsville, Pennsylvania’s Yeungling and Portland, Oregon’s Henry Weinhard’s.
Saranac also made the list, grabbing the number 12 spot. Saranac is made by F.X. Matt Brewing Co. in Utica, which also owns Flying Bison beer. It gave Matt Brewing a nod for its storied Utica Club beer and said Saranac is “popular throughout the Northeast, though not always easy to find.”
Topping the list were Little Kings Cream Ale from Cincinnati, Wisconsin’s Point Special and Texas’ Shiner beer.
