BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A 14-year-old boy is facing a murder charge after being accused of gunning down another teen during a street fight in Buffalo.
Police say the boy shot 16-year-old Kelmyne Jones Jr. just before 4 p.m. Saturday.
Officers sent to check reports of a large fight found Jones, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 14-year-old is charged with second-degree murder. His arrest was announced Thursday by Mayor Byron Brown and Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda, who credited cooperation from the public for leading to the suspect.
The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone who saw the crime to contact them.
The Associated Press isn't releasing the name of the suspect because of his age.
