Construction crews next year will tackle the half of the Kensington Expressway (Route 33) that isn’t being refurbished during the current pavement rehabilitation project.
Plans for doing the rest of it will be outlined at a state Department of Transportation public information meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. next Tuesday in Alumni Hall at Maryvale High School, 1050 Maryvale Drive, Cheektowaga.
Officials say that lanes will be restricted between the Scajaquada Expressway and Buffalo Niagara International Airport during off-peak daytime hours, and the expressway will be closed at night for about three weeks in each direction, with detours along Harlem Road and Genesee Street.
Like the current project, work will include milling and repaving, refurbishing the drainage systems and upgrading the signs and guardrails. Work is expected to begin next spring.
