LEWISTON – Town of Lewiston residents planning to vote absentee on the proposed Lewiston Recreation Center next Monday must file applications by today.
Applications are available in Lewiston Town Hall, 1375 Ridge Road, or can be obtained by calling 754-8213, Ext. 222, 256 or 261.
If the referendum is approved, it would authorize the town to borrow $8 million in bond anticipation notes for the purchase of the land and construction of the facility. The proposed center would be built on Creek Road in front of the Lewiston-Porter High School.
The Lewiston Town Board anticipates using Niagara River Greenway funds to repay the bonds. The town would have the responsibility of providing operating funds for the facility.
Voting on the referendum will be from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Lewiston Town Hall.
