SILVER CREEK – The Anderson-Lee Library in Silver Creek will mark its 50th year Saturday with an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors will be able to see a new plaque dedicated to librarians who have served the facility.

The library opened July 14, 1963, after local Boy Scouts used wagons to transport books from the old library at Main Street and Park Place, about a block from the current site.

The Anderson-Lee Library now has more than 3,000 registered users and regularly offers computer classes, electronic book services and special children’s activities.

A grant recently acquired by the library will be used to construct a classroom to increase teaching space.
