Maria T. Toro and John McRae Alsup were married at 6 p.m. June 22 in Mountaintop Golf and Lake Club, Cashiers, N.C. Guests remained at Mountaintop Golf and Lake Club for a reception following the ceremony. Father Brian Sheridan of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Smyrna, Ga. heard the couple’s vows. The bride’s parents are Mark and Nancy Toro of Atlanta. The bridegroom’s parents are Robert and Jean Alsup of Winston-Salem, N.C. The bride is a graduate of George Walton Comprehensive High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from Auburn University. Maria is a account executive at Crowley Webb and Associates. The groom is a graduate of Richard J. Reynolds High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and also earned a J.D./M.S.E.L from Vermont Law School. John is an assistant U.S. attorney at the Department of Justice, Western District of New York. After a trip to Spain, the couple will make their home in Buffalo with their border collie Mac.
