MAYVILLE – A 31-year-old man who crashed a car in the Town of Hanover and fled the scene has been arrested on multiple charges, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies said today.

Deputies were dispatched shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday to investigate a crash on Hanover Road, where the vehicle involved was abandoned. The crash occurred sometime the night before.

Deputies determined that Michael W. Butcher, of North Collins, was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. He was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to keep right, speed not reasonable, unsafe tires and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Butcher was issued tickets to appear in Hanover Town Court at a later date.
