NIAGARA FALLS – The state Department of Health has approved Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s application to open a new wound care center this October, the hospital announced this week.

Body copy rag: The center will include two hyperbaric chambers that will allow patients to receive 100 percent oxygen at high pressure to speed the healing of chronic or problem wounds, thus providing a more advanced treatment option for those who qualify for the procedure.

Body copy rag: The hospital is spending $700,000 to renovate and equip the center, which will add five jobs to its payroll. “This is very good news for the growing number of people who need this specialized care, especially the elderly and patients with diabetes,” Memorial President and CEO Joseph A. Ruffolo said.
