TOWN OF NIAGARA – Two men were charged Wednesday with operating a marijuana growing operation at their home on Divide Road, and they face further charges after a 3-year-old was found in the house with full access to all of the plants, growing supplies and equipment.

The Niagara County Drug Task Force raided the home in the 4600 block of Divide Road following a one-month investigation of a suspected indoor marijuana growing operation. Investigators said they seized 120 live plants and several ounces of processed and packaged marijuana in the raid.

Bradley M. Keel, 23, and Brandon S. Smith, 21, both of the Divide Road address, were charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, growing the plant, and first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child.

Investigators said the child had full access to the interior of the house where the marijuana operation was found. Child Protective Services was called, and the child was turned over to her mother.

Keel and Smith were arraigned in Town of Niagara Court before Justice John P. Teixeira, and both were sent to Niagara County Jail on bail of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond. A return court date was set for 6 p.m. Aug. 1.
