Construction of a new $7 million incline railway in Niagara Falls, Ont., is nearly done, according to the Niagara Parks Commission.

Two cars have been lifted into place on the new Falls Incline Railway, which will link Falls-related attractions at Table Rock and the Fallsview tourism area.

The new railway replaces a 47-year-old railway that was available only seasonally and did not meet provincial accessibility standards.

Now, each of the railway’s two cars will accommodate two wheelchairs or strollers, along with a maximum capacity of 40 passengers.

The commission expects the railway to resume full-service operations by Aug. 16.
