LOCKPORT – Trek Inc., an electronic instrument manufacturer, is expected to begin operating at its new plant in Lockport on July 11, City Planning and Development Director R. Charles Bell said Friday.

The company is moving from Medina and bringing 78 jobs to a 48,000-square-foot space on the first two floors of Building 4 in Harrison Place, the former Harrison Radiator plant at Walnut and Washburn streets.

Bell said the company expects to increase employment at the plant to 100 within a year. The complex, owned by a city-controlled entity called 210 Walnut LLC, was refurbished in a $4.3 million project, which included $400,000 from Trek and a $3 million mortgage for 210 Walnut. Trek has been operating a research and development office at 57 Canal St. since 2011.
