A routine traffic stop by Erie County sheriff’s deputies late Tuesday on Broadway led to the arrest of a 50-year-old French Street man and a 52-year-old Interpark Street woman on drug charges and drug warrants.

Danny F. Ellington and Willena Simmons were arrested by Deputies Brandon Scott and Daniel Milbrandt on Broadway near Bailey Avenue about 10:45 p.m.

Ellington was stopped because of his allegedly erratic driving and the deputies said they found he had suspected crack cocaine. The deputies found both Ellington, who is being held on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and Simmons were the subjects of outstanding city arrest warrants on other cases. Simmons was turned over to Buffalo police.

Ellington, who was found in possession of counterfeit money while he was being processed Tuesday night in the Erie County Holding Center, was arraigned in Buffalo City Court and remanded to jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
