April 6, 1916 – June 7, 2013

Mary L. Brasch, a former mental hygiene therapy aide, died June 7 in Absolut at Orchard Park after a short illness. She was 97.

Born Mary L. Core in St. Clair, Pa., she moved to Western New York in 1918 and was a graduate of Lackawanna High School.

Mrs. Brasch was employed for nearly two decades as a mental hygiene therapy aide at West Seneca Developmental Center. She raised four sons and a daughter.

In retirement, she was an avid bowler and bowled regularly at Abbott Lanes until she was in her 90s. She also enjoyed gardening and canning, and she played pinochle at Valley Community Center.

Her husband of more than 30 years, Albert C. Brasch, died in 1966.

Survivors include two sons, Norman and Ray, and a daughter, Theresa Giancaterino.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered June 10 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lackawanna.
