The Amherst Town Board will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the council chambers of the Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main St., Williamsville. The meeting will be preceded by a work session at 3 p.m.

The board will discuss consolidation of the Amherst and Williamsville sanitary sewer systems, the appeal of a decision on downsizing the board and cell phone use among town employees.

Plans to rezone a shopping plaza at Main Street and Richfield Road for development as a two-story retail and condominium building will also be discussed. Several residents spoke out against the project at the previous Town Board meeting.


• The Village of Williamsville Board of Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Village Hall, 5565 Main St. The meeting will be preceded by a work session at 6 p.m.

• The town enjoyed a recycling boom in May, town officials announced, as collections increased by more than 33 percent over May 2012. Supervisor Barry A. Weinstein attributed the increase to residents utilizing the larger recycling totes distributed last year.

• The Amherst Chamber of Commerce last week announced its newest membership initiative, providing veteran-owned businesses opened within the last 12 months a complimentary two year membership in the Chamber.
