That helicopter that may have woken some people as it hovered over Buffalo’s West Side this morning had nothing to do with police work.
The helicopter was part of a film production crew’s work shooting background scenes for a promotional video about Buffalo.
“We were notified that they would be shooting background scenes today, but we had no idea they would be out this early," a police official said.
“My understanding is they are getting aerial shots of city parks, grain mills and the downtown area that is expected to last through a good part of the morning and into the afternoon hours," said Mike DeGeorge, spokesman for the city.
Additional shooting will occur this afternoon and tonight when more video is taken of other parts of the city, Coca-Cola Field, and the waterfront, where a concert is scheduled for tonight, DeGeorge said.
The promotional video is being sponsored by several local organizations, including the Buffalo and Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau.
