NIAGARA FALLS – When police spotted a well-known shoplifter waiting at a bus stop with three bags, they decided to check into the matter. In the bags, they said, they found close to $200 worth of stolen steaks, shrimp, lobster and ribs.

Raymond C. Walbert, 57, of Third Street, was arrested at 8:15 a.m. Saturday on Military Road. Police said he was in possession of items taken from the nearby Super Walmart store, as well as an area Wegmans market.

Walbert, who was released from jail earlier in the week after serving a six-month stint for similar thefts, according to police, was charged with trespassing and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
