The New York Islanders’ John Tavares went from talented hockey player to MVP candidate under the tutelage of skating coach Dawn Braid. The Sabres hope their prospects can take a similar leap.

Many of the Sabres’ future players are in town this week to take part in a skating clinic. Braid, who is employed by Buffalo as a skating coach, is giving the lessons.

The sessions have been off-limits to observers. The Sabres’ annual development camp, which is typically open to the public, will return July 8-13.
